Álvaro Martinho, born in douro and transferred his passion about the Douro to his projects - Maquia, Mafarrico and Quinta das Carvalhas - the connection to the Earth, the preciosity and the authentic joy for his work. Graduated in Agronomic Engineering but was his life in the Douro that shaped him. He was born, raised and lives in the heart of the Douro and dedicates much of his life studying the valuable heritage that is his region. All projects denotes a deep respect for Nature and for sustainability, possessing a very own vision about the vineyard and techniques of viticulture. The wines of his project came from the vineyards of Cumieira - Baixo Corgo, Portugal. They are very old vines, with poor soils, implemented in terraces and with a great variety of grape varieties, conferring to the blends complexity and minerality notes. Artist by passion, conciliates the joy of wine producer with the musician. Had a group called 4 Wine whose purpose is to promote in restaurants and bodegas, and other spaces his wines and his region. In the autobiographical song "A minha vinha - My Vineyard" describes the tenderness for Nature, for the vineyard and for his lifestyle. His complicity, authenticity and vineyard worship make him a charming storyteller who can easily catch the attention of anyone. Produces MAFARRICO, White and Red and MAQUIA Red. I appreciate, as winemaker of Quinta de Lemos, to Portugal Wine Castes - Wine Cellar, our partner, the opportunity to be available through your local sales – online and physical store. Increasingly becomes essential the online sale of wine as a way of communication and marketing of the brands. It is an honor for us to have our wines available in both sale platforms, where we intend to be actively. I try to convey through the wines of Quinta de Lemos what is the Dão. In the mix of climate, soil and castes I try that in every sip of wine will be recognizing the origin of this land. We work in castes of the region, endogenous, and we conduct all culture so that each bunch of grapes bring all the flavors of earth and sun, rain and wind that went through during their life. After careful vinification, we store in our cellar, each bottle for a minimum of five years, allowing to offer our customers the Dão wine as he must be tasted: softened by time!
